I pursued 3 years of rigorous and specialized training in play therapy to learn how to work most effectively with children.
-
I'm a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) through the Association for Play Therapy.
-
I'm trained in traditional talk and behavioral therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), positive psychology, and Mind Body Bridging.
-
I'm married to my high school sweetheart. We have a busy toddler and two spunky cats. We are surrounded by adorable chaos!

Here's what most children want to know:

-
My favorite color is purple and favorite flavor of ice cream is cookie dough. I'm a cat and dog person. I grew up with two older brothers and a sassy little dog named Harry. I can't wait to meet and learn about you!
How Playing With Purpose Began
Once upon a time, I (Lily) worked as a clinical school social worker and then a play therapist in a group practice.
Early on, I noticed a consistent pattern:

-
most children didn't know why they were having a hard time.
-
most therapists didn't have specialized training in working with children and most therapy spaces weren't kid friendly.
-
children and parents realized that traditional talk therapy wasn't working.
-
parents had tried everything Google suggested, read a dozen parenting books, received unsolicited advice, and still weren't seeing results.
With the dream of making therapy approachable, meaningful, and effective for children and their families, I started Playing With Purpose.
